Eco homes are nothing but homes that are environmental friendly. These eco homes are an environmental rating system of homes in the United States. These are domestic version of the BEEAM scheme that is also called as Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method. This domestic version is also applied to a number of non residential buildings in the United States. An eco home was first developed and used as a commercial building in the year 2000 as the consideration fall under one of the four versions which are before 2002, 2003, 2005 and the contemporary version 2006. There has been a research conducted by the RCLCO and Green TV to find the reason behind eco homes getting popular and the conclusion was eco friendly homes provide healthy living. According to the research a total of 42 percent the people preferred a eco home is for health reason where as 17 percent were motivated by energy savings and the remaining 12 percent for the environmental benefits.
